A live cooking and cocktail-making show featuring original recipes from “Stirring the Pot,” the new cookbook from the New York chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier, an all-female organization of professionals in the culinary, fine wine, and spirits arenas, took place on May 11 at The Ram’s Head Inn on Shelter Island.
The book, created and edited by fellow Dames chef and “Chopped” champion Silvia Baldini and Sharon Franke, compiles over 60 recipes from fellow members. Dames Carla Hall and Lidia Bastianich wrote forewords. All proceeds from the book benefit LDNY’s scholarship fund, which has awarded over $2 million since the program’s inception in 1978.
Les Dames d’Escoffier International has 45 chapters in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico, England, France, and Italy. It was founded in 1977 by food journalist Carol Brock and focuses on networking, education, and helping other women succeed in the culinary arena.
