The End: A Plastic-Free Celebration To Benefit Oceanic Global

Join Oceanic Global’s New York City and Hamptons Hub in Montauk for a day of caring for the ocean — filled with a variety of activities to help end plastic pollution, on Saturday, July 17.

Oceanic Global “inspires us to care deeply for the ocean and provides solutions to protect it,” reads its website. “The international NGO sheds light on humanity’s essential relationship to the ocean and empowers individuals, communities, and industries to create positive change. Oceanic Global creates educational experiences, consults on sustainable operations, and engages local communities to generate measurable impact for our collective wellbeing.”

The day begins with Surf Lessons from Surf Hamptons on the beach in front of Hero Beach Club from 3 to 5 PM. Surf Hamptons aims to “grow the Hamptons surf community together and teach everyone how to respect the ocean.” The lessons are presented by The Breitenbach Advisory Team of Compass Real Estate.

A beach cleanup will follow from 4 to 5:30 PM. Oceanic is joining forces with Pasta Life, a company that produces a gluten-free pasta drinking straw. The goal is to say “pasta la vista” to ocean plastic pollution.

All the necessary equipment for the beach clean-up will be provided, but guests should bring their own cloth or gardening gloves. Participants should also remember to bring reusable water bottles and reef-safe sunscreen. Meet at the Hero Beach Club beach entrance.

An day will conclude with an in-person auction cocktail party at Hero Beach Club from 5:30 to 8:30 PM, with delicious bite and refreshing cocktails, in addition to live music. The event will bring together a community of conservationists, surfers, musicians, artists, and more to “raise awareness around the Plastic Free movement and ignite action for ocean conservation.”

Big-ticket auction items will be at the event for bidders to view, while guests are encouraged to silently bid on their personal devices through the virtual auction site. The auction will be up through July 19.

Items include a private “Sunset at the Lighthouse, Montauk Oceans Institute” tour with Oceanic Global Ambassador Gaelin Rosenwaks, visual art pieces from renowned mural and graffiti artist Lance Johnson; an autographed American Flag from Olympic swimmer Elizabeth Beisel and Tokyo 2021 teammates, and much more.

All proceeds from ticket and auction sales will benefit Oceanic Global. The cocktail event is hosted by Hero Beach Club, Hamptons Magazine, and The Breitenbach Advisory Team of Compass.

A $100 ticket covers all three events. You may also purchase tickets to the surf lesson for $50, the auction cocktail party for $75, or sing up for free for the beach cleanup.

Tickets are available on Eventbrite.
