Third Annual North Fork Beach Clean Up Collects 3,063 Pounds Of Trash

The Greenport Gazette called upon members of the North Fork community to “put their plastic where their mouth is” during the third annual North Fork Beach Clean Up Competition. Held every September, the International Month for Coastal Clean Up, the competition invited teams to sign up and collect trash littered across North Fork beaches.

This year the competition collected 3,063 lbs of trash throughout the month of September. The winner, for the second years in a row, was the team Nanny’s Treasures. They collected a 1087.93 lbs. Second place went to Little Creek Hunks with 693 lbs, and third place was Peconic Pearls with 563 lbs.

An afterparty was held at Little Creek Oyster Farm & Market in Greenport on Friday, October 14.
