Presented by Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center, Zoom Bedtime Stories for children began in 2020. They will continue on the first and third Friday each month at 7:30 PM. All community children are invited to join.
For seven decades Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center has been serving the community with educational and enrichment programs and services for children and families.
Community members are asked to participate as guest readers the first Friday of each month. Mr. Robert, the after-school director does the reading the third Friday of the month.
On Friday, January 7, Rev. Adrian Pratt of Bridgehampton Presbyterian Church will be reading “Grumpy Monkey” by Suzanne Lang. On February 4, Massiel Alvarez, publisher at Book Master, Corp. and Michael Daly, the founder of East End YIMBY will be reading “Buenos Dias Universo, Buenos Noches Mundo/Good Morning Universe, Good Night World,” by AnagiZselle Riviera and Izabella Agostini being read in Spanish and English.
“We began Zoom bedtime stories in 2020 in the height of the Pandemic. Our children look forward to them. Exposing children to reading at an early age is so important. Books inspire and open their eyes to limitless possibilities,” said Bonnie Michelle Cannon, Executive Director BHCCRC. “The Center is grateful to the Bodenchak Team for continuing to fund this project. The best is yet to come for the entire Center family. We are looking to the future. Reading to a child 20 minutes per day will expose them to 1.8 million words per year. At The Center we want to make sure that this happens for each and every one of our children. The power of literacy is so important. The more exposure they have to words the better.”
