Humanity Stoked (Social/Cultural category) So, what’s Humanity Stoked, anyway? It’s an exploration into the challenges of moving humanity forward, as seen through the eyes of the world’s most iconic professional skaters, activists, scientists, artists, musicians, and educators, all of whom share unique experiences and perspectives shaped by their love of skateboarding. It’s a philanthropic journey as told through luminaries and thought-leaders memorializing their personal stories, passions, perspectives and their connections to skateboarding, humanity, philanthropy, arts and sciences, music, human rights, LGBTQ rights, environmental issues, politics, and more, all while raising awareness and money to help make a positive difference in people’s lives.
No Lost Shoes (Environmental category) – Directed by Max Romey. Our shoes go lots of places, across vast distances, and over many miles. But eventually, no matter how much we care for them, our shoes break down and usually get thrown away. Max Romey wanted to find out what happens to his old shoes, and in his film No Lost Shoes, highlights the full scale of the problem.
Ground Swell (Surf/Turf category) - Directed by Paul Taublieb. The logical thing, the sane thing, is to stay on land. But they paddle out. Why do these big wave surfers risk their lives to ride these mountain-sized waves? The answer is overcoming fear. Narrated and executive produced by Academy Award-nominated actor Josh Brolin in his third collaboration with multiple Emmy-winning filmmaker Paul Taublieb, "Ground Swell: The Other Side of Fear" is an in-depth look at the 2021-22 big wave season through the eyes of Nic Von Rupp, Kai Lenny, Matt Bromley, Torrey Meister, and pioneering female surfer Bianca Valenti,
It’s Love, Bro (Narrative) – Directed by George Massimillo. It's Love, Bro was conceptualized as a project we could make with pandemic restrictions. It aims to capture the feel, emotion, and laughs of timeless romantic comedies such as "When Harry Met Sally" and "Forgetting Sarah Marshall." Unfolding with a cast of fun, unique characters and giving the audience the ups and downs of classic TV romances such as Jim and Pam in "The Office," Sam and Diane in "Cheers," and Ross and Rachel in "Friends." All wrapped up into a tight, fast-paced ride of comedy and romance that will keep audiences cheering for Bob and Jeri's budding romance while laughing at the ridiculousness around them.
