Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center hosted the “It Takes Our Village” summer fundraiser on Saturday, June 29, at Mulford Farm. Attended by 200 guests, the event featured a live bluegrass band, Pete & the Stray Dogs, bites from The Clam Bar, and beverages from Wolffer Estate, Sunboy, and Montauk Rum Runners.
The theme of this year’s events was to recognize the six non-profit partners that enhance the center’s curriculum. Awards and original artwork by the EWECC children were presented to Melanie Woods of Amber Waves, Dennis Fabizsak of East Hampton Library, Ruth Ann McSpadden of the Garden Club of East Hampton, Joyce Tuttle of LVIS, Fred Doss of Paddlers for Humanity, and Holly Wheaton of the Springs Food Pantry.
Additionally, East Hampton Village Mayor Jerry Larsen awarded Joe Gurrera the first annual Eleanor Prize, honoring him for his significant positive impact on the children of the East End community and for supporting working families of the East End.
