Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor Center hosted a sold-out afternoon event featuring Julie Andrews and her co-author and daughter (as well as Bay Street Theater’s co-founder) Emma Walton Hamilton to celebrate the release of their latest collaborative book, “Waiting In The Wings.”
An engaged audience of all ages attended the event, many from several generations of families. The afternoon included a moderated discussion hosted by Tracy Mitchell, Bay Street Theater’s Executive Director. The discussion was followed by a reading of excepts by Andrews and Walton Hamilton and ended with a lively Q&A with an adoring audience.
Beloved Oscar, Golden Globe, and Emmy winner Julie Andrews and her award-winning writer, producer, and arts educator, daughter Emma Walton Hamilton, have co-authored over thirty bestselling children’s books. “Waiting In The Wings” is published by the Little, Brown and Company, Books for Young Readers imprint and illustrated by internationally recognized EG Keller. “Waiting In The Wings” is based on an actual incident at Bay Street Theater. One spring, outside the theater, a “theatrical” family of ducks nested and eventually hatched in a nearby planter and paraded down to the water while theater staff looked on and helped the duck family find their way to safe waters. Emma Walton Hamilton was front and center that day. The book is dedicated to Bay Street Theater.
