Bay Street Theater’s 2025 Mainstage Season continued Saturday night, June 28, with the gripping psychological thriller “Deceived.” The opening drew an eager and engaged audience, who were quickly swept up in the production’s suspenseful twists and emotional undercurrents. This newly reimagined adaptation of “Gaslight,” written by Johnna Wright and Patty Jamieson, brings a bold and resonant voice to a classic tale of manipulation and doubt.

Directed by Tony Award nominee Sheryl Kaller, the production unfolds in a Victorian-era home filled with shadow and suspicion. Every glance, silence, and misstep draws the audience deeper into a world where reality slips just out of reach.

The cast features Olivia Cygan (Bella), Sam Gravitte (Jack), Briana Carlson-Goodman (Nancy), and Mary Bacon (Elizabeth). Rounding out the company are understudies Rebecca Salzhauer and Dayne Rasmussen. Scenic design by Jason Ardizzone-West, costumes by Devario D. Simmons, lighting by Reza Behjat, and sound and original music by Jane Shaw complete the immersive experience.

Opening night guests included Co-Chair of the Bay Street Board of Trustees, Lynn Mestel with husband Hayes Roth, along with fellow Trustees David Fink, John Frawley, Myra Hackel, Wendy Hashmall, Loretta Kaufman, Elise Leve, Leslie Mayer, and Flora Schnall. Also in attendance were Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Robert Schenkkan and Grammy-nominated Judy Carmichael.

Deceived runs through July 20 at Bay Street Theater. Tickets are available at baystreet.org.
