Outdoor Fitness Classes, Wellness Market, Panel Discussions & More At Wellness East Hampton

Discover the Hamptons, East Hampton Chamber of Commerce, and James Lane Post will host Wellness East Hampton, a month-long wellness and fitness series, taking place throughout the month of May in the Village of East Hampton.

The series will kick off with a Wellness Market in Herrick Park on Saturday, May 1. Herrick Park will be the location of outdoor fitness classes for four consecutive Saturdays. There will also be a series lunchtime panel discussions held at The Hedges Inn with wellness industry professionals.

The event will promote all things wellness. From the fitness classes to panel discussions, activations will focus on physical and mental health, while promoting small business economic recovery. The goal is to help support fitness studios and small businesses and also give the community a variety of safe, outdoor classes to participate in. Classes will be enjoyed outdoors — in a safe, interactive way, while taking all necessary Covid-19 precautions.

Outdoor fitness classes in Herrick Park, in the center of East Hampton Village, will feature some of the East End’s favorite studios and instructors.

Among the classes will be yoga taught by a variety of instructors and studios including Anna Haddad of OneYogaHouse, which has locations in Montauk and Brooklyn. OneYogaHouse will host a Vinyasa Yoga class.

Erica Velasquez of Evolveast Yoga will hold Yoga Flow. For years Velasquez has managed the Yoga in the Vines program at Wölffer Estate Vineyard and has led yoga retreats and classes in Antigua and Palm Beach.

Ashley McGee Yoga will present an Open-Level Flow class with live music. The class will include inventive sounds by musician and producer James Ryan.

Alyson Follenius and Megan McGuire will host a Spring Awakening class, including foundational movements mixed with Vinyasa flow into Savasana.

Fitness legends Elisabeth Halfpapp and Fred DeVito — both co-founders of Exhale, who recently opened Fitness Collaborative in Exhale’s former space in Bridgehampton — will present their CoreBarreFit Barre class, which includes strength and flexibility exercises that target the entire body.

Michelle Levy of Erika Bloom Pilates will host an essential movement class, a full body workout that will wake up your senses.

Join former professional ballerina, Nancy Richer of Richer Movement, for a ballet inspired workout.

Daniel Lauter will hold a sound bath, a super relaxing way to start your weekend.

Mivana Move’s Marissa Ivana will host a Barre Sculpt & Flow class. Ivana is a former NBA dancer and cheerleader who now holds residency at Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton.

Andrea Fornarola of Elements Fitness Studio in East Hampton will host a Barre and Pilates inspired class. The class is 60 percent tone, 20 percent sweat, 20 percent stretch, and 100 percent fabulous.

Instructor Taylor Pearl will present a Sweat & Sculpt class, which is a Pilates and cardio combo, providing the perfect balance of sculpting and cardio. Truth Training will provide a HIIT class, using a kettlebell and body weight, led by Ed Cashin.

For the kids, there will be a free DreamyKid Meditation Class hosted by founder of the DreamyKid meditation app, Ty Wenzel.

Local resident Donna McCue will host weekly outdoor walking tours throughout the Village of East Hampton that highlight the natural beauty of the area.

Prices range depending on the class, and tickets to each class can be purchased on www.discoverthehamptons.net. More classes will be announced shortly. Guests should check each class description to see what equipment they should bring with them to class. Masks must be worn and all social distancing rules must be followed.

Panel discussions with wellness industry professionals will be held at The Hedges Inn in East Hampton on two consecutive Thursdays — featuring a lunch and discussion on a range of topics including mental health and nutrition. Each lunch costs $55 and includes a choice of entrée, a glass of wine, and coffee, tea, or water.

Bridget LeRoy will host a panel discussion with a focus on mental health.

On Thursday, May 13, starting at noon, award-winning journalist Bridget LeRoy will host a discussion on mental health. The panel will include Amy Kalaczynski, the founder of the Montauk Meditation Club, East End Acupuncture’s Julie Sigler-Baum, and Marisa Striano, the founder of Spirit’s Promise Equine Rescue.

On Thursday, May 20, award-winning journalist Nikki On The Daily’s Nicole Teitler will moderate a panel discussion on nutrition. The panel includes Thuyen Nguyen of Thuyen Skincare, Dr. Gerry Curatola of Rejuvenation Health, Charlotte LaGuardia of ThriveEast Nutrition, Hamptons Wellness Coach Alyson Follenius, and Wellness Foundation President Michele Sacconaghi.

The wellness market will take place in Herrick Park on May 1. Vendors are invited to host a booth in the park from 9 AM to 3 PM. The cost is $125 per table and vendors will be supplied with a table, tablecloth, and two chairs. Due to COVID-19 public safety regulations, space for wellness market vendors is limited. Applications will be processed on a first come, first served basis. Vendors must fall within the wellness category and are subject to approval. Vendors interested in participating in the wellness market should apply at www.discoverthehamptons.net.

Visit vendors including Swoon, The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation, Mind Offline, Evolveast Yoga, Elements Fitness, Hamptons Wellness Coach, James Lane Post, and more.
