Salon Series At The Parrish Art Museum Returns

Salon Series, the Parrish Art Museum’s concert program featuring multi-award winning, world-class artists, is returning for its ninth year with livestream performances from the Lichtenstein Theater.

Co-programmed with Louis Meisel, the Spring Salon Series features Wynona Wang on Friday, May 14, and Nadejda Vlaeva on May 21, both at 6 PM.

Chinese pianist Wynona Wang, First Prize winner of the 2018 Concert Artists Guild International Competition and 2017 Wideman International Piano Competition among many other prestigious awards, has performed as a featured soloist with the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the National Philharmonic Society of Ukraine, and the Romanian Mihail Jora Philharmonic Orchestra in Italy. She has given solo recitals in Spain, Indonesia, and throughout China. At her Salon Series concert, Wang will play works from the Baroque, Late Romantic, and Modern eras: Two Sonatas, K 206 and K 29, by Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757); Sonata No. 1 in D minor, Op. 28, by Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873-1943), and Ba Ban Chen Yi (b. 1953).

Bulgarian-born pianist Nadejda Vlaeva has won major international awards — including First Prize, Liszt Competition in Lucca, Italy; Third Prize, International Liszt Competition in Budapest; and the Yamaha Award for best Brahms interpretation — and has performed solo recitals and with orchestras throughout Europe and the United States. In her Salon Series concert on May 21, Vlaeva will play an original work: Between Two Worlds, in addition to works by Late Romantic composers Alexander Scriabin (1872-1915), Sonata-Fantasia No. 2 Op. 19; and Franz Liszt (1811-1886) Liebestraum No. 3 and Sonata in B minor. The program also includes two works by her compatriot, Bulgarian composer Pancho Vladigerov (1899-1978): Exotic Prelude Op. 17 No. 4, and Evening Song (In modo arabo).

Individual tickets for the livestream concerts are $20 or $15 for members. A packaged price for both concerts is $35 or $25 for members. Visit  parrishart.org.
