This summer, British sculptor David Harber brings his internationally known work to East Hampton in a collaborative exhibition with landscape architect Michael Derrig, owner of Landscape Details.
Titled A Celebration of Art in the Garden, the show occurs June 28 and runs through Aug. 31 in Derrig’s private multi-acre garden spaces at Landscape Details headquarters, 103 Montauk Highway. The exhibition is open to the public by appointment only, every other Saturday from 12 to 2 PM.

The exhibit places Harber’s contemporary sculptures, sundials, and fountains within a living garden setting that is designed to highlight the interplay of light, form, and nature. Derrig has placed each of the sculptures with specific attention to responding to the distinct features of the surrounding environment.
Among the notable works is Torus, which is situated in the rear garden to resonate with the surrounding foliage. The Armillary Sphere is installed in the Tulip Garden to represent the element of time passing. In the location of the house, the sculpture Dark Planet adds texture and tactility. In the area near the pool, Mantle reflects light off the surface of the water. The final piece of work, Flo, features a diverse palette of colors intended to resonate with the changing garden landscape.
Harber, who has been creating sculpture in his Oxfordshire workshop for more than 30 years, is recognized for works that highlight nature, contemplation, and the passage of time. His work is found in public and private locations worldwide.
Derrig’s East Hampton–based firm, Landscape Details, has been a prominent design/build presence on the East End for more than two decades. With over 150 skilled artisans, the firm is recognized for creating some of the region’s most sophisticated residential and commercial landscapes.
