The Long Island Oyster Growers Association’s Interactive Oyster Trail

If you’re on Long Island, you will always be within 10 miles of an oyster farm, according to The Long Island Oyster Growers Association, which has released its 2022 Interactive Oyster Trail.

“We currently have more than 50 oyster farms on Long Island. LIOGA’s Interactive Oyster Trail will help you find them!” said Ben Gonzalez, an officer at LIOGA and owner of Southold Bay Oysters.

The Interactive Oyster Trail was developed with help from volunteer Kelsey Livingston, a technical account manager at a leading digital map company Mapbox, who wanted to support a community organization as she honed her map-making skills.

LIOGA was also supported by Courtney McGuire, a senior account manager at Mapbox and friend of LIOGA, who explained that, “the mission of Mapbox is to help people navigate the world… and that includes where to find delicious oysters!”

New Yorkers can now explore the LIOGA Oyster Trail at liogany.org.
