On March 1, the New York Junior League celebrated its 73rd Annual Winter Ball at Cipriani South Street on Saturday, March 3. The sold-out event, An Evening in Wonderland, raised approximately $850,000 and honored recipients of the NYJL’s Outstanding Sustainer and Outstanding Volunteer Awards, the organization’s highest honors. Since 1952, the Winter Ball has raised essential funds for the NYJL’s training and community programs while bringing together volunteers, family, friends, and supporters.
Nearly 1,000 guests attended the Winter Ball. Craig Melvin, the award-winning co-anchor of NBC’s TODAY, served as Master of Ceremonies.
NYJL President Jeri Powell recognized award honorees, including Outstanding Sustainers Elizabeth King and Gena Lovett, and Outstanding Volunteers Sarah Marie Cloonan, Nicole M. Hudak, Michelle LeNoach, Kathleen Z. Li, and Noreen Okarter. Guests included Jesse Bongiovi, the co-founder of Hampton Water.
Since 1901, the New York Junior League has responded to New York City’s most pressing socioeconomic challenges. Powered by over 2,500 women volunteers, the NYJL works with approximately 60 community-based organizations to advance children’s social-emotional learning and to provide life skills programs to youth and adults who are navigating periods of difficult transition.
