On Saturday, June 14, The NeoPolitical Cowgirls held its annual Arts and Advocacy Gala at LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton. The theme of the event was “Women Who Speak Truth to Power: Through the Lens of Women’s Bodies, The Arts, and the Constitution.”

Artistic Director Kate Mueth, was joined by panel moderator and Edward R Murrow fellow Elise Labott, panelists Ana Oliviera, President and CEO of the New York Women’s Foundation, activist and author Dorothy Quincy Thomas, former director of the Women’s Rights Project of the Humans Rights Watch in New York, and Anne Ream, Co-Founder of the Center for Story and Witness.

Actress Mercedes Ruehl joined the event, and featured performers included Catherine Curtin. Playwrights Cynthia Cooper, Emma Tattenbaum-Fine, and Kate Mueth provided the readings, and Olivia Wasser and Jackie Iulo performed along with NPC dancers.
