Celebrating 50 Years Of Roses: Southampton Rose Society’s Centennial Season Of Events

The Southampton Rose Society, a nonprofit organization founded in 1976 and affiliated with the American Rose Society, continues its mission of promoting rose cultivation, horticultural education, community service, and environmental stewardship on the East End. In 2003, the Society established the SRS Rose Garden on the grounds of the Rogers Memorial Library in Southampton, dedicating the garden as a gift to the community. The garden remains open to the public free of charge seven days a week.

As part of its 50th anniversary celebration in 2026, the Southampton Rose Society has planned a full season of events for members and the public. From June 10 through June 28, the Society will present “A Celebration of 50 Years of Roses and Rose Gardens,” an exhibition featuring photography and artwork at the Madelle Hegeler Semerjian Gallery at Rogers Memorial Library.

The Society’s Annual Rose Show and Rose Day will take place June 12 and 13, with Rose Day judging on Friday, June 12, followed by the Rose Show setup and exhibition on Saturday, June 13, in the Morris Room at Rogers Memorial Library.

Summer events continue with the Members Garden Party on Sunday, July 19, from 4 to 6 PM, and the Golden Rose Gala cocktail party and fundraiser on Saturday, August 8, from 5 to 8 PM, hosted in the gardens of Clelia Montali and Todd Moscowitz at 400 First Neck Lane in Southampton.

Through these programs and events, the Southampton Rose Society continues its commitment to preserving the beauty and legacy of the rose.
