This winter James Lane Post will highlight a series of do-it-yourself “Happy Home” projects and kits that you can have fun with, while staying home and safely social distancing. This week: How To Make Potpourri Out Of Old Valentine’s Day Flowers

Ingredients

6 roses

6 stems of dried lavender

10 drops lavender essential oil

1 tsp cinnamon

1 orange rind

Place roses in the own for two hours at 200 degrees.

Add orange rinds to the oven for 30 minutes.

Gather your dried ingredients. Remove the rose petals from the stems. Remove lavender from the stem.

Place orange rinds, lavender, rose petals in a bowl.

Add drops of lavender essential oil. Stir and cover the bowl for two weeks.

After two weeks, uncover and mix in cinnamon. The cinnamon will work as a fixative, making the fragrance last longer.

Display in a shallow bowl.
