LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton announced its annual Summer Benefit with a cocktail party hosted by board member Greg McCarthy and his partner Peter Bickford at their art-filled Fifth Avenue residence overlooking Central Park.
The evening celebrated the artists who’ve donated works to the benefit’s art auction, including Laurie Anderson, Tony Bechara, Stephanie Brody-Lederman, Philippe Cheng, Liz Collins, Renee Cox, Michael De Feo, Alice Hope, Eva Faye, Mark Mennin, Toni Ross, Cindy Sherman, Mark Seidenfeld, Vadis Turner, Robert Wilson, and more. Many were in attendance. “Thank you all for being here to toast these wonderful artists. They are really the lifeblood of LongHouse,” said Director Carrie Rebora Barratt. “These works will be available for bidding on Artsy the week of the benefit, this year on Saturday, July 12. LongHouse will honor artist Vija Celmins and philanthropists Mary Jane and Charles Brock. The theme is Luminosity! I’m so happy to say we are almost sold out and 2025 promises to be our best yet.”
Louis Bradbury, LongHouse Board Chair, thanked Greg and Peter for their hospitality and welcomed friends, adding, “Carrie has really changed LongHouse. We aren’t just a beautiful garden filled with great art. We have weekly programming; architecture, art, and book talks, painting and craft classes, performances, yoga, and wellness offerings; we’re open five days a week! We hope to see you all out east. I’ll welcome you there.”
Among the crowd was LongHouse benefit Chair Gael Towey with Stephen Doyle, and board members Peter Olsen, Pamela Willoughby, as well as MaryGail Doerhoefer, David Fink, Lana Jokel, Simon Kinsella, Annika Peterson, Skye Marigold, Cheryl Riley, and Alix Strauss.
LongHouse Reserve, a 16-acre sculpture garden and nature reserve created by artist, collector, and world-renowned textile designer Jack Lenor Larsen, inspires living with art in all its forms. It’s home to over 60 outdoor works, including permanent collection works by Buckminster Fuller, Yoko Ono, Toshiko Takaezu, and Willem de Kooning, and seasonal loans from artists such as Maren Hassinger, Kenny Scharf, and Gaston Lachaise.
