Local TV, Inc. (LTV) received a 2021 Hometown Media Award from the Alliance for Community Media Foundation. The awards program was established to honor and promote community media, community radio, and local cable programs that are distributed on Public, Educational and Governmental (PEG) access cable television channels. Proceeds go to the ACM Foundation which is exclusively used for facilitating, preserving, and promoting education in community media.
LTV received first place for its program, “East End Underground,” in the category of Entertainment and Arts series. The show features Long Island original music performances and focuses primarily on East End talent. The show recently reached its 50th performance which are all viewable on the LTV YouTube page or via www.ltveh.org.
“This is quite an honor especially due to the fact that the program is evaluated by a panel of industry judges nationwide,” said Michael Clark, LTV’s Executive Director. Each year, nearly one thousand entries are submitted. These entries, or programs, are submitted and evaluated on several factors resulting in over 100 award winners in different categories. Awards are presented to the most creative programs that address community needs, develop diverse community involvement, challenge conventional commercial television formats, and move viewers to experience television in a different way.
“East End Underground is a great example of the talent out here. Not only does it highlight the musicianship but it also shows the work of the dedicated folks behind the scenes at LTV. This is a proud moment for us,” Clark said.
