The Stephen Talkhouse, a special home to live music on the East End for over 30 years, is struggling with the impact of COVID-19. There are a few ways the community can help.
“We are doing our best to take care of our employees and will continue to do so,” read an email from the Amagansett venue. “We appreciate your continued support in these efforts.”
A GoFundMe page for employees was set up last Spring. “As we look towards a dark winter, we have created a new relief fund for our employees who are a big reason why the Talkhouse is the Talkhouse. One hundred percent of all contributions will go directly to our employees. If you can donate anything, it will help our staff immensely this holiday season,” the email stated. The goal is to raise $25,000.
The White Room Gallery in Bridgehampton has come together with the Talkhouse to presents the “Rock N Roll Never Dies” campaign — a music and art collaboration. A portion of the art sales will help cover the salaries of Talkhouse employees until the venue is allowed to once again showcase music. Images of rock stars like Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, and Bob Dylan are available from artists such as Steve Joester, Craig Alan, Seek One, Joss Parker, and more. 8×8 prints on aluminum are $300 each, with other options available.
There will also be a special broadcast from the Talkhouse on Friday at 8 PM. Hosted by Nancy Atlas, The Friday Night Hustle is the weekly celebration of some of the Talkhouse’s favorite East End professional musicians.
Guests include Inda Eaton, Gene Casey, Klyph Black, Mamalee Rose, Sarah Conway, Winston Irie, and many others. There is a pay-what-you-can option on the site and funds raised also go to employees and the musicians.
