Join artists Vaidehi Kinkhabwala and Shraddha Borawake for The Grain Awakening—a five-hour immersive food and culture experience that explores the rituals of home-cooked Indian meals through the lens of intergenerational knowledge and artistic collaboration. Hosted at the Potato Farm Project Artist Residency in Jamesport, this intimate gathering invites guests into a world where tradition, nourishment, and storytelling meet at the table.
The Grain Awakening celebrates the everyday magic found in Indian kitchens—specifically, the tradition of making fresh roti, the essential daily bread. Artist and host Vaidehi Kinkhabwala collaborates with her mother-in-law, Tina Patel, to share authentic recipes and cooking techniques passed down through generations. Shraddha Borawake, founder of New York City-based supper club Chutneyverse, co-designs the experience as a cross-cultural offering rooted in home, healing, and heritage.
Event highlights include culinary demonstrations, an interactive workshop, nutritional insights, and a seated family meal.

“The Grain Awakening is an offering from the heart,” said Vaidehi. “It honors the unsung heroes of our homes—our mothers, grandmothers, and all who nourish us quietly every day. In sharing our food traditions, we hope to spark conversations about heritage, and the cultural bridges food can build.” Founder of the Potato Farm Project, Vaidehi is an Artist represented by the William Ris Gallery. Bicultural experiences, gender disparity, and struggle from the transition to America have fundamentally shaped her recent work.
This gathering is more than a meal—it reimagines the domestic kitchen as a site of empowerment, artistry, and communal care. Rooted in the mission of both the Potato Farm Project, which fosters a spirit of community, creativity, and artistic expression, and Chutneyverse, a platform for spiritual and culinary exchange, The Grain Awakening invites participants to reconnect with ancestral wisdom through taste, texture, and togetherness.
The event will be held on Saturday, May 31, from 11 AM to 4 PM at 80 North Railroad Avenue in Jamesport. Visit events.humanitix.com.
