Starting January 18, the Neo-Political Cowgirls offer a six-session program called Winter Wanderings, taking place every other Sunday at LTV Studios in Wainscott, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, through March 29.
For women aged 18 and up, this program will have participants exploring different art forms while opening themselves up to connection, discovery, and simple joy. There will be writing and sculpting activities; sessions on fabric dying and needlepoint; gentle movement elements, and thoughtful theater games, all led by engaging teachers who are working artists.
“You don’t need to consider yourself ‘creative’ to take this workshop,” said Kate Mueth, founder and artistic director of the Neo-Political Cowgirls. “You just need to hold a desire to treat yourself well through the winter, to utilize the dark and cold in a way that nurtures and warms so that something new will be ready to bloom when spring arrives.”
Loretta K. Davis, a past Winter Wanderings participant who currently serves as donor and community engagement director for Project Most, said, “If you’re interested in discovering your creative talent that you didn’t know you had, you should take one of Kate‘s workshops. I had the opportunity to do that at a time when we weren’t really connecting with people, and it was joyful and playful. I was surprised at what I could learn and create.”
The cost to sign up is $350 for the full six sessions or $275 to attend four sessions. Visit npcowgirls.org/winter-wanderings
