2021: The Year Of Gifting “Charm” From The Vedic Perspective

We are all born with an innate desire to be happy. The desire to be happier is why we do the things we do and strive for the things we want in life. It is beneficial for us to have desires in order to motivate us to act and to enjoy happiness. In every given moment, we are acting on what feels right because on some level it makes us feel good.

According to the Vedic perspective, Nature is always guiding us towards the next right action via charm. Nature does not want us to suffer, ever. It navigates us in the direction we should go by making one way seem more charming than the other. Nature is guiding us towards greater evolution, towards what is best for the creation as a whole. The only job we have, is to feel for it, to listen to charm and to follow it. Another name for charm is intuition.

When we are in alignment with Nature, our big Self within, following charm leads us to opportunities, experiences, and relationships that are for the greater good. We sense that we are Spirit having a Human experience. If we are not in alignment with Nature, big Self within, we will not be able to feel what Nature is telling us.

When this happens, we are ignoring the internal map, but continue to attempt to move into the direction of charm. This is why many will turn to the abuse of food, shopping, alcohol, drugs, work, etc. to feel better. These substances can feel charming when there is not a strong connection to the Spirit within.

Does this mean we should live boring lives and never enjoy a fine meal, purchase objects, have a successful career, etc.? Of course not! It simply means that we need to prioritize aligning ourselves with Nature, big Self within, on a daily basis so that when we have desires they are for the greater good.

We do this by developing a meditation practice and by practicing feeling good, feeling at peace, feeling at ease. When we are charmed by Nature, instead of by ego, our actions will be for the greater good of all, not solely for our individual selves. When that is the case, we should act, even if it is indulging in that glass of wine. If we are in alignment with Nature, there will be no need to abuse substances as there will be nothing to escape or numb.

It is our responsibility to move in the direction of the enjoyment of life. We must work on strengthening our minds so that we can practice feeling good. Ultimately, we are being guided to a place where we can be most fully of service to others and to share love. This is where happiness is unearthed!
