A Sun-Kissed Lifestyle: Marina Cocher Talks Marina St Barth

Marina St Barth is a resort wear boutique with locations in East Hampton and Southampton, founded by Marina Cocher. The shops curate looks for a sun-kissed lifestyle. Inspired by the art of travel, Marina St Barth provides access to brands from around the world, which Cocher sources herself — from island elegance to casual glamour.

We spoke with Cocher to learn more.

Tell us about the concept for Marina St Barth and your background in fashion/retail?

After barely having survived the Big Tsunami in 2004 when visiting the Maldives, I realized that I had another opportunity at life and as such, I followed through with my dreams to pursue my true passions — which were a combination of fashion and retail.

I opened my first boutique in St Barth 18 years ago… and three boutiques later along with other successful endeavors, my life took yet another turn bringing me to the US! Shortly thereafter, I opened my flagship store off Worth Avenue in Palm Beach, which led me to open another two boutiques nearby.

The Marina St Barth in the Hamptons adventure first started with a pop-up store about eight years ago at Pierre’s Restaurant located in Bridgehampton, which later allowed me to grow permanent roots with my first boutique in 2021 off Jobs Lane in Southampton.

All our boutiques share the same concept: “A sun-kissed lifestyle” that is meant to transport you to an exclusive international voyage. Each of my Marina St Barth boutiques is personally curated to create a one-stop shopping experience where you will discover all of our handpicked pieces from all over the world — we cannot wait to welcome you and delight you.

You’ve recently opened a second Hamptons location in East Hampton. What inspired you to expand in the Hamptons?

After a very successful first season in Southampton and with the feedback of our faithful clientele — I was urged to open our second boutique in East Hampton. The popularity of this beautiful area made it difficult for some of our clients travel down to Southampton. We are so excited to be there this season and we are inviting everyone to come and discover this brand-new location.

Tell us a little about some of the exciting items that you’re offering this summer.

One thing you can always count on at all our boutiques is the constant introduction of new and exciting international brands. Naturally, we prefer not to reveal all of the latest styles or trends, but instead invite you to discover them in person as our customers are delighted to see our newest fashion picks.

Go-to look for summer?

Most of our clients cannot walk out of our boutiques without one of our dresses, which come in bright colors and stylish patterns cinched at the waist with one of our many french leather cummerbund belts in various colors, or our Italian sandals, or one of the several fresh pearl multi-layer necklaces. And to top this fabulous casual chic look, don’t forget to throw on one of our smart Panama hats. These all are definitive show stoppers for all our clients.

What’s next for you and Marina St Barth?

Keep an eye for our next trunk show participation dates on Instagram. We are also on the verge of continuing our expansion to other locations due to a high demand from our loyal clientele, and we will definitely let you know in time about our next venture.

Until then, we cannot wait to welcome you in any of our exciting boutiques. A bientôt!
