The Retreat will kick off the Hamptons summer season with its All Against Abuse Benefit on Saturday, June 7, from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM at the Southampton Arts Center.
This year, The Retreat will honor Dr. Daniel and Dr. Allison Van Arsdale for their extraordinary dedication to healthcare and community well-being. Their leadership, compassion, and enduring commitment to public service reflect the values at the core of The Retreat’s mission.
Dr. Daniel Van Arsdale, a former Retreat board member, has devoted his career to advancing medical education and patient care, founding multiple training programs at Southampton Hospital and serving as Program Director for its Family Medicine residency. Dr. Allison Van Arsdale is a dedicated physician specializing in Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine. She founded Southampton Hospital’s Community-Based Palliative Care Program and served as Program Director for both its Palliative Care and Transitional Year training programs, as well as Police Surgeon for the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office.
“When one person finds safety and strength through The Retreat, our whole community becomes stronger. It’s an honor to support such vital work,” said Dr. Allison Van Arsdale.
“Every person deserves to live free from fear. The Retreat stands for that promise, and we are proud to stand with them,” said Dr. Daniel Van Arsdale.
Guests will enjoy an elegant evening featuring signature cocktails, gourmet hors d’oeuvres, and curated food stations provided by Art of Eating. The program will include moving testimonials from three survivors of domestic abuse and a look into The Retreat’s bold vision for the future.
The evening will culminate with a dynamic paddle raise auction led by celebrated auctioneer Harry Santa-Olalla, followed by a celebratory toast with champagne and strawberries.
An exclusive silent auction—offering luxurious hotel and spa packages, designer fashion, original artwork, and more—will open online on Thursday, June 5, and close Sunday, June 8.
“Hosting my first All Against Abuse Benefit as Executive Director is both an honor and an opportunity to share our vision for the future—even in the face of uncertainty,” said Cate Carbonaro, Esq., Executive Director of The Retreat. “While we’re navigating serious government funding challenges, our commitment to survivors has never been stronger. The Retreat is expanding, adapting, and continuing to lead with compassion and purpose. This evening is not just a celebration—it’s a powerful reminder of what we can achieve together.”
Proceeds from the event will directly support The Retreat’s free, confidential services for children, adults, and families affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. These include a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, legal advocacy, counseling, prevention education, and fatherhood programs.
