i-tri, the community-based program that fosters self-respect, personal empowerment, self-confidence, positive body image, and healthy lifestyle choices for middle school-aged girls, hosted a Sweet 16 Gala on Wednesday, June 18, at LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton. It was a beautiful evening — the rain held off, and the sun came out just as the evening began.

The event began with i-tri alum leading guests through the gardens at LongHouse and to four different i-tri “Experiences.” Power poses, visualization, affirmations, and the power of words all brought awareness to the details of the program that is now in its 16th season.

Under a tent on the DeKooning Lawn, guests had a chance to bid on art by local female artists, luxury trips and experiences, and to purchase tickets for a chance auction. Beer (donated by Springs Brewery), wine (donated by Channing Daughters), food by Silver Spoon catering, music, and a photo booth kept everyone busy.

The evening culminated in the honoring of 16 i-tri Luminaries, including Ann Welker and Fred Thiele, followed by a paddle raise to support the program.

“i-tri’s Sweet 16 Gala was a Magical Night – a true celebration of the girls, the program, and the people who have made it possible over these past 16 Years! We are so fortunate to live and work in this community that continues to make it possible for 200+ middle school girls from Montauk to Mastic, to participate each season!” said Theresa Roden, i-tri’s Founder and Chief Visionary Officer.

Development Director Jennifer Fowkes said that “Financially, the evening was a success.  While we ended up slightly short of our goal, we are confident that we can make up the difference in the next few weeks leading up to our Hamptons Youth Triathlon, the culmination of our program.”

i-tri is still raising funds to reach its goal here.
