Keyes Art Presents ‘Migrations,’ Featuring Artists Oscar Molina, John Neville, & María Schön

Artwork by Oscar Molina

Keyes Art in Sag Harbor presents the exhibit “Migrations,” featuring artists Oscar Molina, John Neville, and María Schön. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, May 10, from 6 to 8 PM. The exhibit will run through June 5.

Migration can deeply influence a fine artist’s perspective, shaping their themes, techniques, and cultural expressions. Many artists use their work to explore identity, displacement, and belonging, turning personal journeys into powerful visual narratives.

Oscar Molina is an esteemed painter and sculptor whose journey from the war-torn landscapes of El Salvador to the vibrant art scene of Southampton is nothing short of inspirational. Known for his profound “Children of the World” series, Molina’s work poignantly reflects his early life experiences and indomitable spirit.

Molina said, “Politics, culture, and identity – how they intersect and interact with one another is what intrigues me, this is what my art explores. I immigrated to the US from El Salvador, yet for me, a border is nothing more than a concept. So, I paint and sculpt as a way of building bridges across borders, borders that nations create and impose upon us.”

Artwork by John Neville

John Neville paints nostalgic portrayals of bygone days, chronicling the folklore and daily lives of the local fishermen and the women from his childhood village. John is a Canadian artist who splits his time between Nova Scotia and Maine. He is a painter, printmaker, and storyteller. Neville was born to a family of boat builders and fishermen. He grew up fishing with his father, building boats, and listening to the tales of people in the local villages.

Artwork by María Schön

Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, of Venezuelan parents, the images in María Schön’s landscapes — inspired by a deeply felt relationship with the tropical landscapes of Venezuela — always exhibit a deep connection in subject and atmospheric sensuality to her South American roots. Her works are about memory of natural environment and nostalgia for a landscape where she enjoyed a sense of place. She lives and works in Sagaponack.
