Fashion shows look different these days, but in an industry that’s driven by innovation and creativity, our current times haven’t stopped the show.

Times Square Fashion Week, which took place on Saturday, February 13, used the opportunity to showcase a digital fashion show throughout New York City’s Times Square, screening the featured designers across billboards.

Not only were the shows displayed among the bright lights of one of New York City’s most iconic scenes, a limited number of guests viewed the shows from the top floor of a double decker New York City tour bus.

“We are always trying to think of something new and different to offer designers and creative,” said Times Square Fashion Week founder Dee Rivera. “Our goal is to highlight amazing designers and give them a platform. This year we were deliberate in celebrating sustainability, Black History Month, and the love of New York.”

Times Square Fashion Week made history in 2020 when they partnered with Times Square Alliance, Fashion Mingle, and Manhattan Borough President to transform the famous Father Duffy Square Red Stairs, offering a socially distanced fashion presentation with seven designers.

Last week’s billboard show featured Kimberly Pucci, Jus10H, Blinded by Color Project, and House of Barretti.

“True luxury allows a woman to wear exactly what she wants, when she wants. It includes her in the creative process,” said Pucci, one of the designers featured, who offers luxury handbags.

Designer Justin Haynes of Jus10H also displayed his collection. He believes that “one should be true to themselves, walk boldly in what makes you feel good, inside and out, and never worry about what others may think about you.”

Blinded by Color Project by designer Mireia Lopez features sustainable caftans in her CAFTANS X HUMANITY collection. The exclusive prints are produced in small batches, by demand, in order to reduce waste. They are made to be genderless and timeless.

“Creatives have the power to be transformers, human centered design, system thinking or design thinking approaches are great tools to open our perspectives,” said Lopez. “Everyone no matter our profession, or how big or small are our efforts, have the power to make the earth a better place.”

House of Barretti — created by actress, reality star, and beauty influencer Isabella Barrett — was also highlighted. Following her time on TV shows “Toddlers & Tiaras” and “Game of Crowns,” Barrett was named one of the youngest self-made millionaires in the U.S. Today she stars in Amazon Prime’s “Next Big Thing NYC.”
